Duetto – Felix Mendelssohn, Op. 67, No.4. One of the Songs Without Words. Composed in Frankfurt in June 1836, soon after he had met his future wife. [1]. Strange, while playing it, I’ve always pictured a lovers’ conversation which turns into a spat which then resolves at the end, the husband reading the paper in his recliner while the wife happily flits around doing domestic chores or rearranging the furniture.

Concert Etude No. 3, “Un Sospiro” – Franz Liszt
Widmung (Dedication) – Franz Liszt’s arrangement of a song that Robert Schumann wrote for his wife Clara. A few years ago a piano tuning customer turned me on to it.
Loved the Duetto, and had not heard the Widmung for years – I sang it with my chorale group.
