By the way, the following sound SO much better in headphones or high quality speakers.
This is the “we’re not worthy!” realm. See what the masters can do with a simple melody.
Duetto – Felix Mendelssohn, Op. 67, No.4. One of the Songs Without Words. Composed in Frankfurt in June 1836, soon after he had met his future wife. [1]. Strange, while playing it, I’ve always pictured a lovers’ conversation which turns into a spat which then resolves at the end.
Spinner’s Song – Felix Mendelssohn, Op. 38, No.2. One of the Songs Without Words. Fun to play.
Concert Etude No. 3, “Un Sospiro” – Franz Liszt
Widmung (Dedication) – Franz Liszt’s arrangement of a song that Robert Schumann wrote for his wife Clara. A few years ago a piano tuning customer turned me on to it.
Loved the Duetto, and had not heard the Widmung for years – I sang it with my chorale group.
Your playing is so melodic and mesmerizing. Thanks for sending, Ron!
